Organizational mangers are expected to create work environments that do not expose their organizations to liabilities through unrecognized hostile work environments. This means that organizational managers need to become leaders on how to create organizational environments that actively support all employees such that various socially distinguishing characteristics like race, ethnicity, gender, religion, ableness and sexuality do not hinder employee success and organizational performance. To be a successful executive, manager or supervisor, today, requires having transformational competency knowledge and skills for leading in diverse organizational settings. These skills are useful in developing a new leadership mindset that understands the social construction of differences, elements of differences, the complexity of diversity, diversity outcomes, and positive returns on well-managed diversity investments.

Creating Your Culture of Diversity Inclusion
Today, many organizations value diversity inclusion. But, for diversity inclusion to succeed, it must make business cents (sense)! Valuing diversity inclusion must go beyond good-sounding rhetorics; rather, it must be designed to contribute to organizational success through a culture of integral inclusion. An organizational culture is the total way of life of an organization. It includes an organization's formal bureaucracy, policies, processes, and informal norms. A culture of integral inclusion means that by design, and as a regular process of doing business, an organization integrates diversity into all levels of its hierarchy as well as weave the knowledge of all team members in decision-making.
The culture of diversity inclusion is easier said than done! It is an idea that organizations love and wish to foster, but organizational traditions often stand in the way of making it happen. To cultivate a culture of diversity inclusion requires attention to some important aspects of how culture is created and maintained, as well as following certain guidelines in adding diversity inclusion to existing organizational culture. When inclusion becomes a part of an organizational culture, it becomes an established part of how an organization achieves its goals. A culture of inclusion takes away the worries and stress associated with inclusion, and the benefits of inclusion will become standard for the organization.
